ABOUT
LaVanda's desire to make art developed at an early age. She studied art in high school and continued her studies in painting and drawing at Regis University. There, she began to create mixed media collages that represented broad themes of human connection. Since then, she has continued to make work with similar themes and has exhibited in over 20 group and solo exhibitions. LaVanda works primarily in mixed media and uses found objects to make cyanotype prints on paper and canvas.
For six years, LaVanda lived in St. George's, Grenada, with her husband who was a medical illustrator for St. George's University School of Medicine. LaVanda worked from her home studio and in 2016 became a volunteer art instructor for both children and adult learners at the alternative art school, Art School Greenz.
Recently, the couple moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where they will continue to work and make art, explore their new surroundings, and integrate with the local artists' community.
