Searching for something more
This is drawing is quite simple, in that there is little drawn. I had created a very painterly blueprint with drips and splatters, wide rough edged brush strokes and loose areas of negative space. I exposed a doily under a lace table cloth. After the print was finished, I immediately saw two faces in cloaks or shrouds. With adding a little marker, pen and ink, I was able to bring the two characters to life. They are holding lanterns of sorts, and searching for something. The little one is pointing ahead as the older character adjusts their eyes to see. Off in the distance there is a city, perhaps where they came from. All in all, I enjoy the abstract nature of this print and the detail in the drawing.
