2017 Grenada Chocolate Festival
Scenes from the 2017 Grenada Chocolate Festival Arts and Crafts Pop Up Show, in celebration of the closing day of festival. My work is a combination of mixed media collage, oil on canvas, and blueprint. I drew the center of a cocoa pod floral diagram onto a doily, and exposed it on top of paper and chemicals to make a blueprint. The cereal box is a collage inspired by Grenada on one side, and a Mexican day of the dead skeleton with 'chocolate coins' on the other. Last year, I participated at the cocoa show at Susan Main's Gallery in Spiceland Mall. There, I showed a large painting of a cocoa goddess in headdress on large dilapidated wood panels I found along the roadside. This year, I took to a small, boxy canvas, and referenced various Aztec and Mayan headdresses to create another cocoa god of sorts. I am happy to say that the painting is in a good home, and thank you to Sheba from Grenada Soul Adventurer for purchasing my art!
